Maison Lachaume
1845: The Dream of a Visionary
Founded in 1845 by Jules Lachaume, a visionary florist and prominent member of the horticultural community of his time, Maison Lachaume established a standard of elegance, refinement, and creativity that endures to this day.
Pioneer of Floral Art
Jules Lachaume's publication of one of the first books dedicated to floral art in 1847 and the establishment of a school to teach the "Lachaume Techniques" demonstrate his commitment to promoting floristry as a distinct form of art. Maison Lachaume, supplier to the court of Napoleon III, quickly gained recognition and won the first prize at the 1889 World's Fair.
The Florist of Proust
The store relocated to 10 rue Royale, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, where Marcel Proust, the famous French writer, visited daily to adorn his lapel with a cattleya. To this day, Maison Lachaume continues to thrive, attracting a prestigious clientele including members of European royalty, eminent cultural figures, and haute couture icons.
The Family Tradition Continues
In the 1970s, Giuseppina Callegari, an exceptional florist, fulfilled her dream by taking over the reins of Maison Lachaume. Today, Stéphanie Primet and Caroline Cnocquaert, the granddaughters of Giuseppina and a famous lily horticulturist, lead the family house, preserving its heritage and history.
Haute Couture
Over the years, Maison has welcomed and continues to host a wide range of cultural icons and celebrities, from Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior, to Claudia Shiffer, Salvador Dalí and Francis Ford Coppola, as well as many of today’s renown artists, athletes and influencers, in search of exclusive pieces.
Karl Lagerfeld once said: “I can recognize a Lachaume bouquet among hundreds. Their work displays remarkable creativity. One might even say it exudes emotion. These are truly creations, not just simple bouquets."
